Well anyway......
Well anyway......
Have a great Christmas to you all, wherever you are....... Just been cleaning up some Bruce Shit from under the Table....... you got to love pets !!!!!
Ok, I confess.......
Re: Well anyway......
I managed to rise from my sick bed for a bit of a tidy up. Only picking up all the stuff I'd just left lying around since the virus arrived, but half an hours work made it all look much nicer.
Back to bed with the window open and a nice hot drink, feeling tired, but pleased and the cat shot in and vomited on the new carpet.
Spiffing!
I'm glad it's not just me who spends Christmas Eve doing things I'd rather not.
It's almost as if he knows I haven't been to the shops to buy his expensive roast turkey kitty dinner this year.....
Have a good time everyone. Soon be spring again

Re: Well anyway......
Bruce is loose about the hoose.... quite often now, it's a real challenge and Mia likes to throw up just after i've sat down !!!! .... had a call at 4am this morning, had to go pick Sam's dad up off the floor, he only got out of hospital yesterday. It's never dull here ! New Carpets are a cat's favourite
Ok, I confess.......
Re: Well anyway......
I have lots of carpet in my new place. I'm not very keen really. I think too many years of engineers and farmers trampling through my homes taught me to have a solid, washable floor in as many rooms as possible
Well, today is a big day. Covid free! I wonder why I don't feel very much better. Never mind. if I test negative again tomorrow I shall go and do some shopping.
I'm glad I started feeding the birds as soon as I got here. It's been very nice, lying on the couch, watching them all day. Hoping to attract even more to the garden by next winter. One of the things I miss most after moving is my enormous numbers of wild birds I used to be able to see. Nowadays ten sparrows and three coal tits are my best count so far. I've seen a Robin and a blackbird, but not actually in my garden. Yet.
I don't count the twenty million gulls that would like to be here. I hide all my feeders where they can't get at them.

Re: Well anyway......
Hope you feel better soon.... I've been feeding the birds for a few years now and it's really great to see them all, we have Pigeons, Doves, Blackbirds, Sparrows, Tit's, Wagtails Starlings, robins and lots of Gulls...I buy peanuts and Seed in bulk and make fat balls which I also hang from trees and hedges when we go to other places..... in about 15 minutes our Bay tree hedge will come alive with the chirping of about 40 Sparrows, it's a right racket.....
Ok, I confess.......
Re: Well anyway......
Yes, mine were noisy a lot of the tome. Almost like an aviary I loved having a garden alive with birds and I never had to use sprays of any sort for my flowers and veggies. So much going on, always.
But I've set myself a challenge here. I wrote a wildlife diary for the first month and the idea is to do it again, once the first year has passed. It's not too difficult. I saw nothing but gulls and town pigeons for days. I'm expecting to do a lot better next year

Re: Well anyway......
That sounds a great idea.... We never see Thrushes or Bull and Green finches, I'm really hoping to see some. Bought a Trail camera which I set up in various places, it takes pics when there is movement both day and night..... I'll try to post some.
Ok, I confess.......
Re: Well anyway......
That would be good. I look forward to it.
The finches were very rare visitors to the last garden. In over 20 years I only saw 2 greenfinches and never a bullfinch. I had a lot of Thrushes though. On quiet summer days you could hear them hammering snails all along the lane and most years they nested in the garden. One year the nest was only a couple of feet from a window, in a clematis. I had a perfect view and spent hours watching. So did the cat. I covered the nest with a dome of chicken wire with a small opening while she was off the eggs for a moment and that saved them. Four fledged from that next. I was very pleased.
Goldfinches came in huge numbers. I always had Niger seed feeders up but I also had masses of teasels growing and they loved those once they'd gone to seed. Such a pretty sight, seeing every one of them covered in birds, and the noise was quite something. It was a wonderful garden for birds
