Funny old day...
(Spain)
Hubby drives car to Xativa, shopping, while i work from home.
Stressed phone call. Car has broken down. He can't find the recovery number. He's stuck. And he has an appointment to get to in l'olleria.
I have to finish a task. But promise to get there asap.
Get bike kit out
Get bike out
Find his helmet and gloves (plan B)
Put them in top box after searching for box.
Put jacket on. Armour is upside down! Turns out he washed my jacket for me, but with the Armour in.
Ride to next town.
He's speaking to recovery.
They can't take it to the garage, as it is shut for 2 hour lunch / siesta.
Figure it out.
Put car on recovery truck
Have to shuffle it around a bit.
This includes running over Ed's foot.
Kit up to go home.
OMG
No back seat. Only the cowl
Ed rides my bike back, in casual jacket and nice shoes.
I sit on the cowl.
Laugh my head off.
Hope we don't get stopped by the police!
OMG braking was hilarious.
On the good side, my bike sounds awesome from the back.
Ed loved riding a sports bike again
I'm still laughing days later, even if we did need to spend €400 on the car.
(Starter motor failed)
Tuesday
Re: Tuesday
I've spent hours in the past, smacking starter motors with my shoes, except my Audi, which need getting underneath underneath and yanking the starter motor lead. That always worked.
I assume modern starter motors are less willing to be knocked about
The kawasaki starter motor responded to a good tap with a hammer when it went a couple of years ago. It needed new brushes which, being old tech, cost £2.60 and took Phil about 20 minutes to fix. Been good ever since.
I liked your description of events. It reminds of the film The Plank, which I think Stephen has just posted on one of the FB sites.

Re: Tuesday
Twas a bad day in motoring when they discontinued with the starting handle eh.
Work is for people that can't play golf.
Re: Tuesday
It was the fist thing I learnt about driving..... How to start the Fergie !
Ok, I confess.......
Re: Tuesday
Another life skill I got from my Grandad, and showed up lots of nasty boys in the young farmers club with a Fergie, I was the only one who knew how to start it on day 1 of tractor driving lessons.
Not really a great triumph as all their Dads already had much more modern tractors already and didn't need to use a starting handle
Re: Tuesday
'scuse the poor grammar there. I have covid and a very fuzzy head today.
Re: Tuesday
I started work on my 16th birthday and the first job was taking a load of sawdust to the dump.... was told to take the Fergie as if i had driven one before !!! anyway, after being shown what to do I spent the whole year racing up and down with bins full of dust which I then got to set fire to..... It was amazing fun. Hope you don't suffer too bad with Covid.... Sam's Dad has now caught it in Hospital just as he was on the road to coming home..... It's not very Christmas'y here.
Ok, I confess.......
Re: Tuesday
It's a bit like that here, too. My youngest was taken ill, so I took hospital duty with him as Harriet was being poorly at the same time. Probably where I managed to collect the virus, although none of the others have it.
At the same time my Mum managed to catch it too and I was undecided if I was more worried about her (94) or me, miles away from here and with only one and a bit lungs. You know how that goes though, so I won't bore you with it.
I shall be very happy just for us all to get past Christmas once more.
I have a freezer full of really boring, healthy food and not a morsel of fattening naughtiness to indulge in, even if my appetite returns!
But think how much weight I won't have to lose afterwards!
It is frustrating though. Everyone is falling apart and there's nothing I can do. I've decided the best thing I can do to help is get better and not get sick again. I'm past the worst of it now, so I've been lucky. I'd honestly expected it to be far worse. My Mum is recovering too, so I'm looking forward to seeing her again as soon as I can, and Stuart and his family are tired, but improving as well.
And I have a new crash helmet and boots to try out as soon as I'm well enough.
I hope Sam's dad will be O.K. She must be so worried about him. Tell her from me that I hope all will be well in the end. xx
