Was up at 5am....
so I practised on the pool table for a bit then got hammered by my Son..... might need to get up earlier ! If anyone likes pool, I can highly recommend this outdoor table, it has a slate bed and it's fully weatherproof, had it 5 years now and so much use out of it......
Ok, I confess.......
Re: Was up at 5am....
I think that looks fun. I'm almost always up around 5am at this time of year, but I spent a night in my new house (it's a long story, but I've somehow ended up with two houses. No idea how that happened. It wasn't meant to be this way) and I have to say that although it many respects it's the perfect next house for me, there wasn't much to recommend getting up that early.
I'm going to have to get used to being woken by the sound of seagulls instead of gently cooing doves
Oh, and towns are very quiet at night. Nothing barked, screamed, snuffled, scrabbled or hooted all night and the house was totally silent. It really was a very strange experience.
And the instant hot water was indeed instant and I didn't have to duck or turn sideways to get through doorways. Also there are windows with complicated handles. Not that it matters because I'm too short to reach some of them!
And curtains open and shut on strings! Who knew? I've only actually broken one so far. And doors that you can't see through the cracks. And keys that youhave to turn round and round to make them open the doors and windows.
All that technology was very tiring so I came home again.
I can't see me getting up at 5am so often once the move takes place, although maybe that would be the best time to walk down to the beach. Maybe next time.

It is a great bit of fun, especially when we have friends round.... I can set up a shooting range which always goes down well and the patio stones are laid as a Chess/drafts board (Just have to move the Pool Table)..... Congratulations on moving into your new abode and becomming a Property magnet.... I hope it all works out for you and you don't break too much..... the Idea of 5am walks on the beach sounds fantastic, maybe you might consider a little 4 legged friend to share the experience, maybe a bit of forraging or Beachcoming..... I have an image of a female Robinson Crusoe in my head !!!!....... I'd love to live near a beach again, it's such good therapy........ any luck with your bikes ?
Ok, I confess.......
Re: Was up at 5am....
I haven't moved in yet. I stay the occasional night, just to confuse the new neighbours and make them think someone's about. It's like camping because I can't move any furniture or stuff in yet. I may need to let it so no point in moving anything in and having to move it out again. I have a kettle, my bedroll and a camping chair over there.
I'm still waiting to try and sell my beloved cottage. I was supposed to have found out the date for exchange yesterday, but it didn't happen. Not a sqeak form agents or solicitors so in the end I had to rely on the grapevine to find out that my buyer's buyer's solicitor has gone on holiday. I would say surely someone capable has been left with instructions to deal with it, because that would be efficient and sensible, but it seems that just doesn't happen in the real world.
As for the bikes, it's now coming up to 11 months since the Striple was running. It's under it's cover in the shed and sometimes I go and dust it and talk to it.
The Kawasaki has an MOT booked and I think it will pass. I certainly hope so. I've done a few rides on it, but all the insurances and tax things are due at the end of the month and also my very good breakdown cover. It's my most expensive month of the year, so I'm being very careful with the pennies.
I've been looking at shed options for the new place but it seems a bit daft to start on that project if I can't live there for a long time.
If this sale goes through I shall be right back on track and discovering all my new surroundings. I really hope I don't have to let it. I'm already skating on thin ice because I should have paid a lot more stamp duty for a second house. if I let it I shall loose more then I gain, but it's better to have someone living there. I can't leave the cottage empty because things go wrong in very old houses and I need to be about to make sure it stays upright.
One day it will all be over and I shall have my Street Triple into the shop and being fettled, probably within minutes of completion of the sale of the cottage

Re: Was up at 5am....
Your life has become very complicated....... Why is it that things just seem to get harder to deal with when we get older ? This month is a killer for us too what with all the Insurances, Tax, Services, MOT's and Corporation Tax..... now I've also decided to purchase the Tranny from the Lease company too...... personally my life was so much less stressful and complicated back in the early 90's when I was unemployed and briefly homeless...... I do sort of look back and wonder where it all went downhill after that....... ..... but I guess as we get older and things like Kids arrive, we have to Knuckle down and get on with it....... I think the best therapy is Two Wheels and Red Wine/Beer though...... Currently got my entire collection of Suzuki ZR50 X1 Bikes and bits for sale on EBay but even though I have ammassed a whole shed load of rare parts worth a small fortune, some of the people messaging me seem to be thicker that a whole lorry load of short planks..... i had an offer of £500 for what probably ammounts to about £14000 of stuff and the bloke said I was aiming a bit high If I expected to get more !!!!! ....... Life would be fantastic if we only had to not share it with other Humans ! Anyway Emma.... Onwards and upwards and just carry on deflecting all the crap that seems to head in your direction and focus on getting the Striple sorted........ we have a date to keep in the New Forest ...........
Ok, I confess.......
Re: Was up at 5am....
Oh and Emma..... I forgot to say........ About your choice of Sheds, I'm sure you know but the best ones are built of thicker materials that are Tanalised so therefore are stronger, more sub stantial and last longer..... I've bought a few over the last few years and would ner buy anything from a place like B&Q or anything flimsy or untreated..... It really is worth paying a bit more for something better to house your beloved Triumph..... Malvern Timber Framed Buildings were pretty damned good, I bought one for the cricket club and one for home and they weren't too pricey either. They even deliver and Errect too (Subject to Address and access) there was another company I used for my Big Shed but I think they went bust as I can't seem to find them now..... They were such good value it made me seriously wonder how they even made a profit !!!!....... without going on about it though, I really do reccomend Insulating the interior as it just helps to keep things from getting damp and mouldy in the winter.....
Ok, I confess.......

Re: Was up at 5am....
I'm playing with the idea of an Asguard shed. Much liked by insurance companies and the area I'm going to is a hot bed of crime so I shall consider lots of things before I choose. Minimum 12 week wait for one of those.
I like the one I bougt forJohn for his workshop. That was a made to measure for someone else who cancelled their order so I got a bigger shed fora lot less money. The suppliers are local so I'll be asking them for quote too.
I need a made to measure, mostly because I can't measure and I'm even worse with metric. I definately need someone to blame if it all goes wrong
Still no date for exchange here though. On Thursday everything was ready to go. Just a matter of lining all the dates up for thethree of us in the chain. And yet here we are, late Monday afternoon and no further news.
According to my solicitor all is well, but my informants (who I have everywhere and haven't got it wrong yet) tell me that the buyer's buyer's solicitor has gone on holiday, which is exactly the same news I had before, so I can only assume some greedy, selfish bastard has had the nerve to book a two weeker. How dare he/she/it!
