Airbag fault......

Post by Snev »

The warning light came on in the MH a while back so I ignored it after researching what the issue was and now I have to sort it for the MOT...... What I didn't know is that the Airbag ECU cannot be reset by the Garages, you have to send it away for specialist work which doesn't always fix the problem.... 3 out of every 10 apparently can't be fixed so you have to buy a new ECU........... currently a 9 month back order !!!! I have my fingers and toes crossed .........
Ok, I confess.......

I've had my car around 14 years now and only realised a few weeks ago that it has an airbag.
At least, it says airbag on the steering wheel, so it might be true.
Probably the most modern thing on the whole car :)

Found a specialist who say they can re-set it if I take it out and send it to them.......... just spent about 2 hours trying to get it out, removing certain parts of flooring and Trim only to find that of the 3 bolts holding it in place, 2 of them are hidden by a huge mass of plastic trim panels........... If only it was 1 inch further forward...... Luckily, I have tomorrow off :( ........ Another good reason to buy new and sell when the warranty runs out................

Ours is going in middle of next month for a list of warranty work. One of the items is to repair the fridge door cause it fell off  Broke a tray inside and smashed the oven door handle off in the process. :-o

Yes fact.
Turns out these new Dometic fridge doors that open either left OR right tend to have issues.
Our local service place had sorted 5 in the last 4 months with the same issue.

Well after 2 hours of huffing, puffing and contorting my less than flexible body..... I've managed to extract the ECU and send it off in the post.......What's the betting it won't be repairable........ ? ..... would also like to add that the whole extraction process was akin to some kind of torture given that the access was a bit like cave diving.......
Ok, I confess.......
