No More Street Triple.

Post by Beelady »

It's done it again! Another electrical disaster.

This time I was on my own, almost to the camp site I was heading to in the New Forest. My first big solo trip since the awful events of 2020 (It's a whole year since the cancer op. and still alive and kicking :) ). It's what I've been aiming for since it all started and the thought of doing the trip again really gave me something to work towards.

This last breakdown was the reg/rec. My new breakdown company GEM were very good . Bought me and the bike all the way home and even parked it in the shed for me, where it's now in bits, waiting for the parts to arrive.
Once it's done it's going to be sold. I can't keep a bike that I don't trust any more. I wasn't even surprised when it failed to start this time. It's got to the point where I hop about in delight every time it does start properly and that's just not good enough.

I'll be bike shopping again once the move is out of the way, but there really isn't anything out there that I want. Not that I fit. Even the Tiger low is too heavy for me to get off the side stand. It doesn't have to be a Triumph though. Any thing I can touch the ground on will be considered.

Sucha a shame though. That bike has given me so much pleasure over the years. I shall miss it very much.

It's a shame when you are forced into making a decision like that.... I could offer a few possible bike options but I guess you've probably tried most of them... the new 660 triple seems like a good bike and it still has that engine..... MT07, Ninja 650 are both fun and lowish seat height but probably still a bit to tall.... that leaves the Grom !!!! :D
Ok, I confess.......

Nothing worse than something that lets you down 🙁

The Fazer has started to play up a couple of times, but I haven’t bothered to look at it yet. That’s a job for winter.

Hope you find a new house and steed soon
If it ain't fun, don't do it

As I need to sell the bike far away, so I won't see it any more (or find someone angry on my doorstep!) I am considering part X'ing it. Possible for a W650 Kawasaki, but only if I'm big enough.
Off to try a friend's one on Saturday. They seem quite saleable and hold their price well so I could get rid of it later if I didn't get on with it. Quick enough for me and can carry luggage, which is important.
Finger's crossed.

I will always swear by the build and reliability of Honda. And in your case Bee look at a 2 year old CB 1100.
For what little i know about bikes.
Work is for people that can't play golf.

That's a low seat height.

I shall look out for one of those on my bike shopping travels. Thanks Bob x
