You may remember me telling my brother lives in Kiev. He is about 7Ks south of the city.
Yesterday he saw his first tanks rumbling past his block (he is on 12th floor).
Last night he heard a saw a massive blast.
Tells me he is thinking of getting across the river to one of his other apartments as it would be much easier to make a run for it if anything happens to the bridges.
He has water and food to last a good few weeks but very concerned it may drag on longer.
At the mo he still has power, running water and telephone connection so is constantly updating me.
Told him weeks ago to get out but the stubborn old bastard said no he will be ok.
Fingers crossed for him

Oh Bob, I hope he gets out sharpish.
Putin will never give in. He is such an ego maniac. Failure is not an option.
This is going to go on for quite some time.
Send the SAS into the Kremlin.

Thanks NC and Bee.
At the moment all is good in the sense they are not fighting on his doorstep. Next few days are going to tell a story.

Re: Kiev
Haha,
Sorry should have reported back.
Yes he left Kiev and went to Lviv in a private owners car through the back roads $900. 14 hours
2 days in Lviv to arrange transport to Warsaw in a bus, again 14 hours.
I picked him up at Manchester airport on Tuesday night.
Shell shocked.
Been telling me some stories of whilst there, his journey and related.
Says the help they got in Lviv from the authorities was invaluable.
His stepson was not allowed out so went back to Lviv. He is a Forensic thingy (cuts up boddies to see how they died) so his medical background is needed.
Ian is now with us getting over it of sorts..........................and eating like a pig and drinking my beer. sometimes wish the Ruskies had got hin

Re: Kiev
That's good news.
Buy him a bottle of vodka to keep him off your beer

Re: Kiev
I'm so glad he's safely back with you.
Guests, even family, can be a trial, but I'm sure you wouldn't have it any other way.
Once he's recovered a bit you can ration the beer and make him wash your cars and bikes for you.
Seriously though, it's good news.

Re: Kiev
In fact he drinks very little, and buys even less
Took him a few days to settle. Some experiance he went through.
He has now applied for a visa for Australia. He has a motorhome there parked at his son's in Perth. Going there for awhile and doing some touring until he knows what's going on in Kiev.
