Simple Bob, Bransons had a list to choose from, I chose one, they registered it and I've Insured it no bother at all..... I think they must Allocate a block of numbers.....

Re: New Bike.......
They must have a direct online link/account with DVLA.
We did exactly the same with our MH. Chose a number from a list the dealer had been allowcated. However, because they did NOT have a direct online account with DVLA the paper work had to be mailed to them. This process is taking + - 6 weeks. We did tax (well they did) and we insured it based on the reg number we selected.
We were adivised and research confirmed that it would be illegal to use the vehicle until it is registered on the DVLA system

Re: New Bike.......
Yes. It's all down to Covid, strikes at DVLA and shortage of labour. It's common knowledge about the delays. Even made BBC news a couple of times. People waiting for their drivings licence renewals, upgrades etc etc, anything the DVLA does.
I waited 8 weeks for my C1.
Surprised 1 you got your V5, 2 you have not heard of the issues.
Check the website your bike is registered.........officially.

Re: New Bike.......
I've heard of delays in DVLA and other departments but not what you are saying about registration..... as far as I know everything is done and I'll get the V5 paperwork sorted when I pick it up on Friday..... I did the deal last week so It's a pretty quick turnaround ........... I did once have to wait a few weeks for a Tax Disc when I bought a Busa but it was still taxed so legal apart from display. Strange times it seems.

OK. Just double check your bike is registered on the system. You can tax and insure based on the number you have chosen but that don't mean it's on the system.

If it ain't fun, don't do it
Re: New Bike.......
I'll ask Bransons in a bit..... Not sure why they would let me take it tomorrow though if there was a problem.... It is Taxed and Insured and you can't Tax a bike without it being on the system... It's all a bit confusing !bobsnicholson wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 4:52 pm OK. Just double check your bike is registered on the system.
