Decided to keep the Z900.
Decided to keep the Z900.
Having looked around at possible trade-in options, the only one that I could really boil it all down to was an Aprilia Tuono 1100 but can't find one with the required miles, condition and price so, I've decided to chuck some more ££££'s at the Z .... It'll now get a new Akropovic de-cat and down pipe fitted, together with a proper free flowing air filter and re-map..... Should be good for 125 bhp and under 200 KG's with a 10 second 1/4 mile time if all the Youtube reports are correct, that's Busa times but without the top speed...... All I've ever really been interested in has been the acceleration so this option seems to be the most logical. Think that will be it for some time on the Bike front as all the new stuff seems to be stupid prices and Battery stuff just doesn't do it for me......... reckon my garage will stay the same till I pass on now. 42 years, 42 bikes, It's not been too shabby truth be known.
Ok, I confess.......

Other than putting a top box on a bike i've never messed with a bike much, maybe cause i ain't got a clue what to do anyway.

I’m with you Bob!
I’ve changed the screen and exhaust on the ninja, that’s it!
I laugh at people that fit carbon parts to reduce weight, but need to lose 5 stone themselves.
I’m with Snev in the acceleration though. There’s not many places you can do 180+, but it’s fun getting near it in seconds

If it ain't fun, don't do it
Re: Decided to keep the Z900.
I never used to alter any bike until my first Busa which just made it more crisp and smooth and urgent... then I got into doing it on every bike, all I know is it transforms the whole feel of the engine and its power delivery. All New bikes are strangled by emmisions regs and everyone I test ride feels lacking, gone are the days of carbs and simple FI, now most bikes have cats and are very lean running, If you rode my MT09 back to back when it was Dyno tuned, you'd have thought it was a different bike, so for me it works and is well worth the few hundred £££'s plus I sell the Power commander and Pipes separately at the end so I re-coup most of the outlay. Apart from the Grom !!! that's just a money pit.....

Re: Decided to keep the Z900.
I've been known to have a few tweaks and extras
I think the Harley was the only one that I spent loads of money on the engine and running gear, but it was manic afterwards and just so much fun! I've never regretted doing it
It really is all about the acceleration for me. The Kawasaki doesn't quite do it for me, but it's a reliable old beast, so I'm fond of it.
I rather enjoy all your search for power, Nev. Don't stop!
