Operation Sell the Striple.

Post by Beelady »

Plan A.
Put it on the Street triple Forum. This is not an option as I stupidly shared every breakdown in great detail with all my fellow Striple owners and they, rightly, would never risk buying it.

Plan B.
Put it on eBay. Risky as I might end up with an angry person on my doorstep, demanding their money back.

Plan C.
Part exchange it for something/anything that I can touch the ground on. Then I can ride (or preferably tow) my next bike away with a clear conscience and not worry about the Striple any more.

Plan D. Sell it as a track bike. No money for me in this option. I would need to let it go for half its value, but better then letting it sit in a shed for ever (which I suppose could be called Plan E).

Answers on a postcard please.

There’s such a shortage of bikes at the moment, I’d trade it in.

Plan C but pick a Bike shop far away !!!! I've had my Catering trailer on EBay all week, paid £6500 3 years ago with the intention of converting it and selling for a small profit. It's sat in the workshop ever since with no work done to it making it pretty much New. Had many messages and offers but most were stupid low or sarcastic or rude. Managed to sell it to a young couple who seemed really genuine and keen to make a go of it but the EBay experience seems to be a bit of a pain.
Ok, I confess.......

Indeed there is... our local shop Bransons has only about 12 bikes for sale, they used to have hundreds.
Ok, I confess.......

I've already had an attempt at C and thought I'd got away with it, but at least I found a bike that fits my hands, feet and legs, so not a completely wasted journey. The shop I found the bike I wanted in only part X's if you buy a new quad bike.
I've spent hours searching for a bike that fits me and the W650 (boring, but capable) seems to be exactly right, although I'm also on the hunt for a Honda VT 750 RS (not the big cruiser one) as the seat height seems to be quite low.
Just a matter of waiting for something to come up, although the W650 would be very easy to sell again.
The hunt continues...

I really should get on with looking around a bit. At the moment the bike is sitting under a cover, doing nothing, while the Kawasaki gets all the outings.
I have started waddling like a duck. The Kawasaki has to have one of the most uncomfortable seats and riding position ever and now I use it all the time I'm starting to feel it!
I have a spare seat, which I have always planned to take to a seat builder and try to get something more comfortable made.
I have arthritis on the right hand side of my coccyx, which makes it a little complicated, but the Striple gel seat is good for several hundred miles without causing any discomfort, so I'd like to have the same for the Kawasaki.
All I need to do is get on with it all.
I think the house selling is getting in the way. far too much happening at once and no money! :)
