Ride out today.
Headed home later than planned. Dusk.
Couldn’t see my lights on the road.
No switch to turn them off, so the bulbs had gone
Sidelights only, or one main beam.
Within 15 minutes it was dark and I had another 10 miles to do.
Fook.
Glad I am old enough not to panic at riding when you can’t see the road!
Halfords tomorrow for 2 new bulbs
Fook that
Re: Fook that
If you buy a couple of spare bulbs and plant them out now, they should be ready use next spring........... hope this helps........
Ok, I confess.......

Lol
Too right.
Will replace them both and buy a box of spares!
Ed said he’d never replaced one.
I don’t remember when I last rode at night, so no idea when the first one blew.

Done.
Blimey that was easy. And a very nice lady in Halfords got me the best deal on the bulbs (although she panicked when she realised they were for a bike and double checked they were right!)
No bulb kits available, but hey, those two shouldn’t go for a while!
All clean and ready for tomorrow.

Re: Fook that
I change bulbs every 12K miles because they usually die soon after that (vibration causes the filaments to break).

Blimey!
I think the ninja still has the original ones in. 22 years on...

Re: Fook that
My first bike night on the ER5 got interesting when I left for home, just after dark.
I turned the headlight on but had forgotten just how poor bike lights used to be. It was quite a challenge with candle power to light the way home
Your adventure reminds of my BSA Bantam days. If I turned the lights on the bike stopped, so I did many riding miles in the dark as a teenager. It wasn't much fun but sometimes it was just ride in the dark or stay home
