Rain stopped play

Post by Ninjachica »

Bunch of us due to go on a rideout today, but they all started panicking last night! There was a 30% change of rain / thunder. I said I was going anyway. (The english girl has cojones!)

Got up this morning, roads were mostly dry, just a few damp patches here and there. Set off along the N332 coastal road. Quite a few bunches of bikes around - going in the opposite direction!

Get to Benissa, for the biggest classic show around. Can't see any signs at all for MOTOs (there are usually arrows stuck on lampposts and road signs). Hmmm ride through the town and spot the stage / bar / etc down a side street. AHA! Dive down a side street and park up next to a V-strom 650.

Bimbled around a bit, but there was practically no one there.
Even the bar wasn't open yet - never had that before

Blimey - the slightest sign of rain, and everyone cries off
They'd never cope in the UK!

Strolled around and finally found the custom bikes:

Yes - that was it!

A few old spanish bikes that looked as thoughthey had seen better days.

We often get more than that outside our Bar Pau on a Sunday lunchtime.
I started to think I might be in the wrong meeting place, but then I saw where people were signing on for the ride out!

I decided it wasn't for me, and got ready to leave. The other bikes near me were kitting up too, then I realised they were on the rideout along with the old cars.
Time to get out of here.

So - who decides what constitutes a classic? Bike or car!

There were loads of old Fiat 500's and 2CV's along with a Corvette Stingray and some other unusual cars.

That said, as the roads aren't salted here (at least - not very often), it is normal to see 30 / 40 or even 50 year old cars on the road.

The day wasn't wasted though!

Had a steady ride back until I got into the 'inland' area, then was able to "make good progress" :-p :-p :-p

I still love the old girl!

I do love a Corvette Stingray. The one with the lovely curvy front end. It was thinking of raining when I set out earlier. Soon turned into bright sunshine though and I had quite a lively ride with a couple of friends and finished with blackcurrant and clotted cream ice cream, so a nice end to the day.

Lovely! The only one I've been allowed to play with was red and sounded nice and growly (I don't know if that's a technical term, but it's just the right word for it). Also very expensive to run :)

The one that was there on Sunday was actually on German plates. Looked nice, until I saw the rusty pipes down the side
