Bees

Post by bobsnicholson »

Bee, watching a Jeromy Clarkson thing this am. He was saying he has gone into Honey production on his farm. Has 250,000 bees at the mo. Saying Honey never goes off???? put it in a jar now, open it in 60 years it will be fine......YET our H&S nutty dept say the jars have to have a sell or best before date. He say's he is going to put Best before 3073.
Don't know if it is one of his wind up's but the way he presented it was funny...……….and he had one of his hive trays thing with him with honey in/on it.

Just saying like.
Work is for people that can't play golf.

‘Tis true. It doesn’t go off.

An aunt in Germany now had bees. Seems a complicated process to harvest, but she got loads from her first attempt. 👍

Yes, it's true. if it doesn't ferment (if it picks up any moisture) it keeps indefinitely and yes, I have to put a sell by date on mine. I just put a year on. If they haven't eaten it by then and it's been opened it won't be as good as it could be, although still safe to eat.

Extracting it is definitely a fiddly, hard work process, but very satisfying to see the storage bins filling up :)
