Lockdown point of view

Obviously haven't experienced what it's like in the rest of the UK but for me it seems not a lot has changed apart from the food shopping experience . I live in an area where there are three different military bases in close proximity that haven't been closed , so a large part of the population are continuing to travel to work . The self-employed tradesmen have had no financial support from the Government and been forced to carry on working . The rest of the surrounding area is farm land so there's no lockdown there either .
With all this movement going on , I don't know anybody or heard of anybody in the area who has contracted Covid or had symptoms . Strange !

I have not heard of anyone we know that have it.
We are semi rural. On the couple of times iv'e been out in the car the traffic is very light. Been out walking and plenty of people out, more than usual.
Today i was a bit bored. Didn't need any shopping as madam has managed to get a couple of slots with Sainsburys and Tesco.

So, i got a bag from the kitchen and put some food stuffs in it from the cupboards. Put said bag on passenger seat in the Jag and went for a very short run, about 3/4 miles only............i was bored. Never got out of the car. The bag full of shopping was of course in case i got stopped.
Not seen a copper or cop car for weeks and weeks.
I know i'm naughty. Is my up bringing me thinks.

My neighbour does a 20 mile round trip to get to work 3 miles away on his KTM. It’s only done 600 miles, but blew up last week

My Fazer is being used as an extra shelf in the garage.


I do worry about some of mum’s friends in old folks homes. She hasn’t been in to town for 4 weeks.
I tend to go in a few times a week for fresh fruit and veg. The roads are very quiet here.

I've been stuck here for what seems like forever. I seem to be able to get a Tesco delivery within two weeks so far, and I see my neighbours across the lane occasionally but while I'm not really lonely I hate being trapped here and not able to walk or drive anywhere.
I was getting so hopeful about my next hospital appointment as it seemed likely I was going to be allowed to drive with one eye, and I was told it was unlikely to be cancelled because it's not a routine appointment, but the letter arrived this morning. They haven't been able to give me another appointment yet but it's going to be at least three months and probably longer. To say I'm gutted is an understatement, The chance of having the other eye reconstructed now seems most unlikely.
It could be worse and it's nobody's fault but today is a bad day. The dream of riding a bike again seems almost impossible for now.
It's specially selfish as I have a friend in Stoke Mandeville, trying to recover from a serious bike accident. He has tested positive, which makes my problems seem very trivial.

Bee I feel for you.

Shows just how weird this situation is, my youngest son who is an insurance broker for Carol Nash has a letter stating he is a essential worker. Travels to and from work 5 days a week. Go figure.

We have a lovely chap that does the maintenance on our office.
Last week he lost his father and a good friend to covid.

This afternoon I’m going to Stafford (10 miles away), to deliver an 80th birthday gift. I will leave it at their front door, then drive home again. It will be the longest journey I’ve done in 4 weeks.

I'm allowed to work. I even have a letter from the Government to say so. But with no licence I can't get there and even if I could, I can't see well enough to do the work. That's why getting signed fit to drive was so important. I could have muddled through for the rest of the season. Bees don't mind if I can see well enough or not. They'll soon let me know if I'm being too clumsy!
I've given them away today. By the time I can get to them there's every chance they'll have swarmed away or picked up a disease. I'm concentrating on growing veggies instead. There's a big shortage of seeds and plants. Luckily I had plenty of seed stored. It won't make a fortune but I'm not spending much at the moment. Council tax is my only big expense for now.
I like veggies. I won't starve

That is one day in my life i am not looking forward to, the day they say i can't drive again. To me it is everything independence personifies.

Shame about the bees Bee. Veg growing i think you did anyway, at least now you will have a bit more time to perfect it.

Shirley is very confused, she has not spent any cash in 5 weeks.
