If you were forced to buy a Trike which configuration and type would you buy and why.
A Can Am type thing (two wheels at the front)
Or
A Honda Gold Wing type type thing (two wheels at the back)
Let's face it you would give up riding completely if you had to buy a Hardly Trike eh.

This would be better than a Harley-Davidson Tri-Glide.bobsnicholson wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 12:52 pm

Re: Hypothetical
I understand there is a place for trikes, but they are not for me (yet)
I might consider a nikken (or whatever it’s called), when my knee finally gives up!

If it ain't fun, don't do it

Re: Hypothetical
When the day arrives that I can no longer manage on two wheels , I think that will be the end and I'll settle for four wheels .
But to answer your hypothetical , I'd go for a custom build along the lines of .....
Really like some of the paintwork and the engineering that goes into the build .

Re: Hypothetical
Been there and had one. I think I can say, with some confidence, that whoever though that fitting a Nevada engine from a Guzzi would make a good trike needed to think again. Also, never buy one without reverse gear. I assumed that as it had wheels it would roll when I pushed and it did, but only downhill It was O.K for a while but as soon as I got my knee replacement I sold it as soon as I had the date for the op. and went back to the Harley.
I'd like a Nikken, but they don't stay up on their own and it's much too big for me. I'd consider one of those three wheel jobbies that have the locking front ends. They are amazing at cornering, but the looks don't inspire me and you have to be careful which one you choose if you plan to use bike parking as the big one you can drive on a car licence doesn't count as a bike so if you get a traffic warden with a brain you'll get a ticket. It's built longer then the others just to comply with the licence laws.
A trike has to be based on a bike otherwise you might as well buy a car. On the plus side you can dress in funny outfits and hats and fit right in with all your new, trike riding friends

Re: Hypothetical
Couple of very valid points there Bee.
So, you believe people on trikes wear funnier stuff than those on "normal" bikes.????? If i were to get one i think i would wear exactly the same stuff i wear on my normal bike........but then again i do dress funny anyway.
The Gold Wing i had had reverse. You don't know just how convenient they are until you have one.
I think should i get a trike it would be a Gold Wing

Re: Hypothetical
They build some fabulous trikes and Gold Wing riders don't have to follow the weird code, so you can dress normally and enjoy, Bob
