Just got my pensioners heating allowance. Will come in handy to keep the air conditioning running in Dubai next month :D

You can donate it to a worthy cause, like struggling beekeepers for instance. :D Just in case I need a new hot water bottle this winter.
We had the first proper frost this morning. Ice stayed on the bird bath all day. Never mind. Just over a month to the shortest day!

I would use the money to buy fuel for my bed warmers.

Just had our heating oil tank re-filled for the princely sum of £600 . Could have bought a lot of beer for that ! :'-(

A full tank of oil (1300 litres) usually lasts us about 15-18 months . Unfortunately the combi-boiler will need replacing when I eventually get round to finishing my building work , which means buying an external one . Looking forward to that invoice from the plumber .

So, as a matter of interest how many lts of heating oil did £600 buy you and will you get 2 winters out of it. Does your oil do anything other than central heating????
We have gas so have no idea of comparisons.

I hated paying for oil fired heating. We only had a small capacity tank, so no economy of scale and it had to be very nearly empty to fit the minimum delivery in. It was a happy day when I'd saved enough to buy a new boiler and change to Calor gas. So much cheaper. I pay monthly and although the gas company win in summer, I win in winter and we're all happy. Even if I had to replace all three sets of bottles at once, which has never happened yet (Heating and hot water, cooker and a fireplace) it would still be under £200 and last for weeks.
