Petrol
Surprising the difference posh petrol makes to the performance of a bike. Mines a different machine. Just saying like, but not to to many people.

Re: Petrol
The manual for my FJR says to use the nice petrol (98) but it's rarely sold round here . I treat it every now and again when I go somewhere posh like England .
It wasn't my fault , I was left unsupervised !

Re: Petrol
I put 99 in today and done a good few miles. Had to go to 4 different stations to get it. England, posh, you have obviously never been to Bolton.

Re: Petrol
I always put the crappy stuff in.
Mind you - I put a bottle of that fuel cleaner stuff in the car, and was impressed with the difference - maybe I should try the posh stuff...

If it ain't fun, don't do it
Re: Petrol
The higher octane fuel will only benefit power if the bike (e.g. BMW R-series) has a knock sensor and ignition mapping that allows it to take advantage of higher detonation resistance.

Re: Petrol
Piglet, does that mean my R does as i suspect, run better on 98/9 oct????? It certainly feels a lot better.

You should gain a bit of torque throughout the rev range with the higher octane fuel.bobsnicholson wrote: ↑Wed May 09, 2018 5:56 am Piglet, does that mean my R does as i suspect, run better on 98/9 oct????? It certainly feels a lot better.

Re: Petrol
I've tried the expensive one but honestly didn't notice any difference at all, so I carried on with the cheap stuff ever since. I also tried the posh diesel in the car as someone swore I'd get better mileage. That didn't work either.
