I used to love watching my birds and it used to cost a fortune in food, but worth every penny. All sorts of birds used to come. Once there was even a Kingfisher visiting, I think almost every common bird in Britain used to come and then in winter there were Fieldfares all over the hawthorn hedges as well. I even saw a female cuckoo in one of the trees.
Moorhens with gangly chicks used to come into the garden and eat the duck food and Swans nested on the edge of the dyke. It was over 20 years of amazing surprises. Absolutely brilliant.
Do you tick your birds off in a book? Some of the twitchers couldn't move without writing every sighting down.
You had to be careful about muddling your Reed Warbler with your Marsh Warbler. All in the leg colour and a minute eye marking apparently.
It's strange how often one vehicle has a breakdown and all the others join in too. I'm finding not having a car rather strange. I have taken to hanging around in car parks, trying to find another car to buy.
I think the trouble is a complete lack of interest. I know what I want but there's nothing recent.
All the local car sales places think I'm weird as I want to be able to sleep on the back seat now and again. I get the impression that's not a very high priority for most people
