Thursday sad day

Post by bobsnicholson »

Brother came over to stay with us from Kiev with ailments about 2 months ago.
Long story short turns out it was a very agressive cancer.
He died on Thursday.
This was the brother who worked for me in Dubai for 20 years.

So sorry to hear that Bob, I guess he didn't have to suffer too long, It's always hard when you lose anyone close.
Ok, I confess.......

Oh Bob, I'm so sorry.

I thought of him often, with all of the goings on in Ukraine (my mum was born there, so it is in our hearts).

Glad he was able to visit you at such a difficult time. Condolences to you all x

I'm sorry, Bob. I'm only just reading this now. How sad for you, but I'm glad you saw him not long before he was gone.
It was a really bad year for losing family and friends and it seemed to happen to so many people I know. Each one such a very great loss to their families. xx

He knew he had problems that's why he came back to UK as Kiev was difficult to arrange stuff.
He stayed with us as he always did,
By the time all the tests were done, typical waiting for this waiting for that test/scan it was too late, PLUS the fact he had a heart attack whilst waiting.
When the results were finalised they could do nothing as his heart attack meds prevented them from doing what they needed.
Within a couple of weeks in was in hospital the 2 days in palative care. From going into hospital to passing was only 16 days.
Sad indeed.

Yes. My Mother and the two friends I lost all went very fast. I'd just lost my very oldest friend, had a weekend away and my Mum was taken to the same hospital on Monday, the day after I got back. I ate a lot of horrible junk food sitting with both of them. It seemed to take ages to feel a bit better and then, suddenly another one went.
Make the best of every day.
I've been doing that for five years now. It works for me. I wasn't supposed to last this long, but you can't tell an old biker stuff like that. We don't listen!

Fully agree with living for the moment.
Been doing just that for a number of years now.
I've lost 4 of my 6 brothers thus far.
At my age, 75 one cannot help but think there are not many Christmases left for me to open my presents.
Although have said that managing with diabetes and hypertension i still feel relatively fit.

I have said yet again that this year will be my last riding a bike. We will see.

I've thought it might be my last year on the bike, but today, despite the ice and fog, I had to go and get the Bonneville MOT'd and apart from the coldest thumbs I've experienced since I stopped commuting, I actually felt pretty good, so I don't want to stop yet.
Things to do and fun to be had.
I've been making an effort to join in with some local groups, singing and sewing and allotmenting, and practicing with my bus pass, so that if I do have to stop driving/riding I'll still have things to look forward to.
At the moment I have a lot of time with my granddaughter as she's not yet old enough to say she doesn't want to play with me any more. She loves bikes and helping me on the allotment at the moment.

I've ordered some rather nice tyres and a Scottoiler for the bike. Sod the expense! I need to get some use out of them before I have to stop :)
