Where to go?
A frequent question of mine, when the sun is shining, it's the weekend, and I don't have list of jobs.
The usual answer, is a ride around the Peak District, but this year, I have set myself a target: the North / South / East and Westernmost points of the UK.
Easter - I headed off to Lizard Point. Did anyone see the forecast? I did, but I went anyway. Set off on Friday, 1 degree, with a snowy outlook for the return trip. I'm a hardy biker. I bought thermals. Then I bought more thermals!
Scooting around the south of Birmingham on the M42, it was grey and foggy. Nasty stuff, that simply rendered your visor useless every 3 seconds! Once I hit the M5, it cleared a bit, and then (sort of) warmed up as I neared the equator. Ha!
Coffee stop at Gordano / Bristol and the next stop was near Redruth, where I found 'Beemer' waiting for me . Mine host was outstanding, and Nina was lavish with the wine - a most enjoyable pit-stop!
Saturday, we braved the weather and went to Lizard Point. Very pretty. Very dramatic. Very well wrangled free parking! At one point, I did notice the state of Beemers exhaust, and thought, "I'm going to have to wash his bike". We then had a lovely ride around the countryside, having luch at a truck stop. The breakfast was enough for a week!
Monday, the forecast predicted snow, moving up through the midlands. Great. I sat it out for a while, then followed the swirl, in the hope that it was not too bad behind it. Grey and damp on the A30, but, once I hit the M5, it perked up, only getting horrible again around the Cannock area - which was fine, as I was now only 1/2 or so from home. Only clipped one wing mirror while filtering!
Bike was awesome.
Weather was British.
Kit was perfect.
Bum was fine.
I love motorbikes
