Crossed back over the first Menai Bridge then headed towards Pwllheli, going around the coast. Small diversion to a pretty viewpoint.
Got to Pwllheli and it turned out that the hotel i booked was actually in Criccieth.

George IV hotel was very disappointing.
Full of old fogies and Japanese tourists.
Bought a pizza and some beers and sat on a bench outside! Pub across the road was having a 70s night, so not all was lost.
Breakfast was good.
Map out again, head for Dolgellau, but swing right for the scenic toute to tywyn.
Sea was like a millpond.
Lunch in Aberdovey.
Back road to Dolgellau, but turn off back to Bala

Get to Bala having covered some 260 miles of the route.
Missed Llandudno and the coast road to Barmouth.
Then had another 120 miles or so to get back home!

I've just been looking at your route on Google Maps, some lovely roads and stunning views, I haven't been back for a few years now, last time was @ 9 years ago but many of the Roads had been freshly Surface dressed which took away much of the fun. I liked Anglesey and I remember finding a sign about the Wreck of the SS Castilian which is just off the coast and full of ww2 explosives !!!! It's such a great place to just get lost in, must try to go again soon.
