Another one to tick off - highest road in England

Never crossed so many county borders in such a short time!

Overnight hotel in Brough, then on to Killhope Pass on Sunday, with the desparate hope of beating the rain that was due.

I took the scenic route. 1 hour to do 33 miles! Really? Yes, really!
Stunning.

I could have done it a bit quicker, but I spent most of my time going; oh, look at that river, oh look at that bridge, oh look at those cliffs, oh, mind the sheep / pheasants / partridges etc.
Stopped several times to take photos. The great advantage of traveling on your own. I entered one valley, and took a photo from the top, near the cattle grid, then stopped again 1/2 mile further to take a picture of a river!

Eventually found the top of the pass and stopped in the car park. Nothing there, except a small stone cross, but hey - it's the highest road in England. :-)

Carried on towards the east, and just followed my nose until I reached the A69, and then towards the A1M.
Spotted a sign that said Hadrians Wall 2 miles, so turned off. Well, I was so close, I may as well. 4 miles later, no idea! Another few miles, and I gave up. Found a visitors centre that had some Roman ruins, but it was raining, and I wasn't going to pay £7.50 for a walk in the rain. Back the way I came, and time to head south.

LOL

He's my lucky mascot - goes with me everywhere (on the bike) - but I usually forget to take a photo of him
