Forest Fires

Scarey things.

Down the bottom of our valley, lightning started a fire on Monday. It is still burning now.

We've had planes and helicopters going overhead for days. Yesterday, there was a storm that whipped the winds up, but didn't give any rain. Terrible.

It was headed away from us, but, this afternoon our valley has filled with smoke, and I can only see about a mile (normally 10 miles). Helicopters are a lot lower.

I genuinely don't think it will reach us, as it has to pass a river and several villages, but fingers crossed for everyone having to deal with it. :'-(

Drove through some of the burned areas today. Very sad. Destroyed houses next to untouched ones.

I’m certainly glad Mr NC took out all of the trees next to our house.

It sounded too close to you for comfort. What a sad sight all those burnt trees are.

Didn’t like to say anything before it was out, but we were getting ash falling on us. If any of it had still been glowing, it could have been a different outcome for us 😕

Horrendous

It must have been very frightening. I've been a bit nervous, being completely surrounded by cereal crops. Not so much about the house but I'd hate to lose any of the sheds. The house is insured but I'm sure I'd never be able to replace everything outside.
I'm glad you're safe now. I was thinking of you, watching the news on TV.
