Our lovely Uncle Jim in Northampton, Is living on the edge of life at the moment, Jim was born in Minnesota but moved to the UK many years ago and met Sammy's Auntie after she got divorced..... Uncle Jim is one of life's true gents, bought up her two kids despite the animosity.... so kind and nice, one child of seven and the only one still alive. He's a bit of a Hero to our kids and now the ravages of time are catching up very quickly, Way too many falls and failing health are taking a terrible toll....... anyway the point of my post is to say that when asked if we could do anything to help, he replied "Soup"....... so I've been busy making all sorts of different Soups and I have to say it's amazing just how tasty they are..... Roasted Beetroot, Roasted Vine tomatoes with red pepper, Cream of Mushroom, Chicken and Tarragon, Cream of Asparagas, Carrot and Orange with Honey and Leek and Potato are all now in the freezer waiting to be taken to Northampton next weekend.... I have to say I never realised just how tasty home made soup can be..... Bloody lush is how Sammy describes them. I hope he gets some pleasure from them.

Home made soup is the very best.
I have several favourites but best of all is a chicken broth with chunky bits in and a butter bean and bacon.
I'm sure Uncle Jim will really enjoy having some of yours. There really are times when nothing else is nicer.

I regularly make soup. Nothing better if you are feeling down .
I can also recommend throwing some barley in if you want to make it thicker

the whole "Making it thicker" thing is a learning curve in itself...... So far, I've just added Potatoes ........ Barley is going to be added to the next batch thanks Ninja

I second the barley vote. My chicken soup wouldn't be the same without it

leaving the toilet seat up
