90% of my riding mileage is trips I would otherwise be taking in a cage.

Very rarely have time myself to ride as I walk to work and that leaves non-working weekends which are usually taken up with domestic chores . That means planning well ahead and hoping for good weather so my annual foray into Europe is my main biking hours .

Most of my rides are at the weekend, unless I'm lucky with the weather and go to work on the bike - then it's a ride home via Matlock.
I do plan most of my rides out carefully, to get the most out of them. I used to just bimble around, but I found that a bit boring.

I have no time because I haven't got off the bike for weeks. Sometimes I have to stop and go and do some work but until Monday I made the most of every, sunny dry hour possible. It can't last forever.
But now it's in the workshop, waiting for it's new stator, I'm lost without it. It's probably good for me to be without it as it's become my safe place, where I can step out of the everyday stuff and just concentrate on riding and learning to find places with the sat nav. I had so many plans for this week and should have been off to my first rally by myself today. It was a bit of a major milestone for me so it's left me feeling a bit down. I wanted to fit my new luggage and make sure I get it all packed up without forgetting anything or having anything fall off on the way. I have a new little tent to hide in and my super duper down quilt and airbed that pack down to the size of two coke cans and weigh even less. I packed the bags anyway, just to see what sort of weight and how even they are. It's well under the weight limit, so I was really almost getting excited to try it all for real.
I'm going to another rally in Norfolk at the start of August, but I'm riding there with a group so that will be a different sort of challenge and I won't be alone. I'm off to Chippenham to meet up with oldish and Paul49 in September. I often win the distance award at that rally. If I pull that one off all by myself I shall feel confident that I can go where I want and I'll be making lots of plans for longer rides, up North maybe and certainly to the West country. It would be a shame to miss Wales out. I have good waterproofs. I can do it.
I may have landed a part time job in a bike clothing shop, but I need to think if I have time to fit it in. I might just be too busy.

Work is over-rated so keep on biking . Sat here this morning hoping for a POETS day , knowing in reality , I'm here till 5 .
I don't know what you've heard but it hardly ever rains in Wales .
More than welcome to camp in our garden should you make it over this way .

Thanks, Gareth. I'll certainly try to visit if I make it that far. I'm not falling for the no rain thing, based on my few visits to Wales it's rained every time I've been, except the time at the Dragon rally when it snowed for a change. I'm not going without the rain gear
