Made in some place called Minnesota.

Are you allowed to just charge off into the desert in UAE? GPS would be a good thing to prevent accidentally ending up in Saudi, which would be unpleasant.

How much does a gold-fold wrapped camel burger cost these days, and did JLo99 stop by to have one?

A friend was telling me about some of the trips, driving across deserts, when she was a child. We were both quite horrified thinking of what was considered safe back in the early 70's, what with not knowing where they might find fuel or having a breakdown, never mind no sat-nav or 'phones.
As a child it was all fun adventures but the thought of the armed groups who stole their money and bandits and being rescued by soldiers had us both a bit shocked from our modern soft and fluffy lifestyles of the present.
Her Father was some thing to do with diplomacy and British and Egyptian government work. They thought it was quite normal to drive all the way from England with the whole family in the car

Bee, in the 80s n 90s we virtually lived in the desert. For 6/7 months of the winter almost every other weekend we were out "dune bashing". With my rally experience i was team leader. Took the following cars (would never go with less than 3 cars) up and over some incredible sand. See above and google The Empty Quarter". God how many times did i have to stop (always facing down) to go and get a stuck 4X4 out. But all part of the fun. Camping through the night was special.
When i was practicing for a rally at night never failed to amase me just how many animals were out there. Love it. Think i should have been a Bedouin.
Some idea under.

Pics are taken just off the main road before we enter. This particular bit is of the road called MADAM RD.
Popular bit for playing as near road. we go in for miles and miles and miles.

By the way great fun. We also had a Kawasaki 550 4x4 Quad we used to take occasionally

Goldcamelburger.
Not seen one on the menu for awhile. Last one a few years ago was Dhs 245 = £45 or about $65/70.
Abu Dhabi Palace Hotel.

Passed lots of dunes when we drove from Muscat to Abu Dhabi.

Tim & Jess did the Omani dunes a few times.

When we went to Nizwa, Tim pointed out where civilisation ended. (Oman empty quarter) I would have loved to have gone there in the dark and watched the night sky.
