Decided to head to Cornwall without using motorways / dual carriageways , so it took the best part of last Wednesday just to get to the North coast of Devon via Cheddar Gorge as I'd never been . (hadn't missed much , mostly rocks).
First night in Nether Stowey . Only plus point about the place pictured below :

Onto Clovelly which is private village with no cars allowed . Place where they bring all their goods in by sledge down the cobbled streets .

Pleasant enough walk round Padstow . To be honest slightly over rated and probably only famous due to Rick Stein .

Nev's stamping ground, Dartmoor. I mean to go there sometime. I have a long list of places to visit. I love the pictures. I used to spend a lot of time in the West country, so many happy childhood memories and quite a few teenage ones that are probably best forgotten, but were some of the best times of all. I almost got married to a Cornish Fisherman before John came along and made me change my mind

Cc,
We did cheddar gorge last year when we went to cider country, people kept telling me I would like it, hmm
I wasn't impressed like you say it's rocks, rocks that you can't look at as you've got to keep your eye on walkers, cyclists wobbling about, posers and cagers all over the place.... Still I've been now but our great shire has some much better sites that have less hype, I know wales is the same...
