Spurn Head

Dad always loved Spurn Head. He and mum travelled to Germany a few times a year, from Hull to Rotterdam, and this was his final goodbye to England. He always wanted to go there, but never said so! Then, as they came back one day, he actually told her. She was shocked, and insisted that they turn right out of the docks, and go!
So, today, I decided to go too. Boring ride up the motorway to munch some miles, then a scenic ride through the villages. Poor Mrs H - it's nearly all 30 and 40 limits! I followed the road quite happily, finally getting to where I wanted to be - but instinct told me something was wrong. I pulled over and checked the phone / location / maps, but couldn't make sense of it. Turned around and headed back, then found the turn I'd missed.
Single track road, but reasonable enough. Then I spotted a parked police car, pulled up, and checked I was on the right road. Yes, I was. 'Follow this road to Kilnsea, and then you'll see the signs for Spurn head'.
Oh God! I'd followed the signs to Withernsea!
Maybe I ought to get a satnav! Got to Spurn, but the gate was closed, and you had to walk to the headland. Not happening in bike boots!
Had a lovely chat with a lady that has visited many times. She told me all about it, the lifeboat station, the lighthouse etc.
Then it was time to go off for a cuppa...
