Change of scenery today, mostly Staffordshire (via swarkstone bridge)

Got lost around Swadlincote, but spotted a sign for Rosliston Forest, and knew there was a cake shop there😁😁

Stopped off for a drink and a jam scone, then the trouble started 😕

There was a single wasp nearby, when I opened the little pot of jam. He came and checked it out, then, feck me, all of his mates arrived.
I’d put the lid on (not screwed on) and the little buggers were even moving the lid. 😲
I’ve never scoffed 1/2 scone so quickly 😦
Came to do the other half, and it was a full on battle. I wasn’t going to let them win, but it wasn’t easy! Fished four of them off my scone, before I could cover it with cream!
Once I had done that, I put the open jam pot at the other end of the table, and left them to it.

I thought it was hilarious. I know a few people that would have been waving around and freaking out 🙄🙄

Mind you, I did check my helmet for any stowaways 😟

Jam first

Then cream, minus the wasps

Agreed, Jam first.

Do Americans have scones?

I think they do but they are much much bigger, and they probably come with fries :D

Not that you would recognize as such (more like rock cakes).

Rock buns. Yummy things with mixed fruit in. I always add cherries and grated nutmeg to mine before I bake them.
