Yes. Nothing like the World Cup final for clear roads. Probably the most watched sporting event on TV. We mustn't waste it. I'm looking forward to a nice, long ride out.
I have enjoyed seeing some pictures of the Kremlin though. I made a lot of the fibre optic security and communications cables for it. It all had a 25 year guarantee, so I assume they're still using it. I'm quite proud of that little job. I was always amused that I was working on that at the same time as I was doing things for MI6. No point in having spies when they were all buying from the same place.

I'm full of surprises. I think it comes from having to change my job a lot until the NHS made the mistake of employing me
I have to say, I loved that cabling job. I used to work in R&D most of the time and once the men with letters after their name had designed a system it was my job to work out how to make it and then how to get it onto a production line and get the costs and timing down as low as possible. I used to do at least an hour a day on the production line as I found it the best way to see how the materials and tools were working, in case I needed to make changes. I didn't get paid engineers wages, of course, but I loved the challenge of being better then the guys upstairs. Very satisfying and it was a really happy place to work, despite being able to beat the quality of any other company in the same business and with a lower material wastage then the industry average. I was sad when the French bought the company and moved all the production to France. I was offered a job but the boys were doing exams and John earned a lot more then I did at the time, so I never got to live in France. I ended up baking for a living and selling it all on a market stall. Still fun, but I haven't enjoyed a job as much since that one. I still see some of my girls I used to train there. They were school leavers when they started with me. Some of them have grown up kids now. Where did all that time go?

Here things are done for "private individuals" that live in the Washington DC area that have credit cards that accept 7 figure charges.

I wish I'd seen some of the money we used to charge for our work. Some of those accounts ran into millions and that's going back quite a few years. I made one box of four rolls of the very finest cabling that cost the client over 2 million. Somebody dropped the box. When I got it back it looked like a lorry had run over it. I bet the argument over who paid went on for ages
