You couldn't make it up
Carlos wants to sell his Harley
He gets a phone call, but it's someone speaking English, and he only speaks Spanish. Lots of confusion arises about cash / Paypal etc. In the end, he gets me to help.
I go to his house, and call the Spanish landline number. Phone goes dead. Use my phone - call goes dead. Try again a few times. Phone must have been left off the hook.
We've got an email address - send messages on that. Ring me, I'm English - here's my number... etc.
Nothing.
Go to Paco's for coffee - Carlos rings - I've got a mobile number now.
We try to ring, but no joy.
Then I spot something..
Number starts with +234 8...
Spain is +34 - where has the 2 come from?
Also, Spanish landlines here are 96.. mobiles 66...
Where is the 8 from?
Google is your friend - +234 is Nigeria
