We use calor bottles in Spain for hot water. Bleddy boilers seem to last 3 years max

Don't say that Bob! My boiler's over 10 years old now. I have it serviced once a year and so far it's been fine. I've had calor in two other houses and no trouble there either.
The only parts I've had to replace have been a couple of outdoor hoses that had perished with age and I buy a good in line limescale filter that get's replaced at every service.
I just ring up when the warning marker tells me the bottles have changed over to the second pair and nice men come and replace the empty bottles within a day or two. Brilliant service from them, too.

I get natural gas from buried lines.

We have gas so have no idea of comparisons.

1000 litres bought @ 0.53 ppl , winter time always sends the price stupidly high due to demand . The boiler does heating and hot water and maybe this time , as we've filled the tank so late in the year , we'll probably get away with not buying anymore until early 2021.
The house is empty all day and we only put the heating on as required , (don't bother with the programmer) so we're probably a bit more economical than the average household .
