Is there a prize for being really stupid? I should have one.
I dropped the Kawasaki this morning. In front of seven very confused men. And it was all my own fault and although nobody laughed I can only imagine what they must have been thinking.
It happened like this: The Kawasaki refused to go into neutral when I parked at the meeting point for a ride out this morning. I started it with the clutch pulled in, as usual, and then completely forgot that it was in gear and let go of the clutch lever. FFS!!! Naturally, it set off in a sprightly manner with me, trying to hold on and stop it.
It didn't get far and it was the slowest drop ever as it gently settled, mostly in my lap.
I really hope I never do that again. At least I didn't have to try and pick it up on my own.....
Just the indicator mount was damaged, but I can glue that back on tomorrow. I just know they'll come up with a nickname for me. It has to be done, but I'm already wondering what it's going to be.
Oh, the shame.
Re: Oh, the shame.
I have Images in my head.... Did you jump up and say "I'm OK"
Ok, I confess.......
Re: Oh, the shame.
Of course! Although it's not easy when your pike has parked on you
Suffering today, but that could just be from riding the Kawasaki so far (it's the most uncomfortable bike I've ever owned) and walking miles through the wartime tunnels in Ramsgate. Not the smoothest surface and it takes an hour and a half to get through.
It was really interesting (mostly due to Colin, our ever so slightly camp guide) and really made us all think about how it must have been to live there if you were made homeless by bomb damage or just going down to sleep overnight.
And a brilliant ride out both ways, lots of coffee and buns and the guys have actually managed to learn the second man drop off system at last. It's only taken four years but it makes big ride outs so much easier.
It was so nice to be able to join in with it all again.
Today I shall be mostly resting and trying to read legal paperwork. I am not enjoying any of the house buying/selling stuff.
I'd much rather be riding my bikes

Re: Oh, the shame.
Good point!
I was out with the Triumph owners club on a ride out. It's very much like Dads Army. We have a Sergeant Wilson at the front, a Captain Mannering organising at the back, several Walkers and Frazers and an awful lot of Godfreys.

Not looking forward to dropping the Wing, 435Kgs on my pike is going to hurt.
Work is for people that can't play golf.
Re: Oh, the shame.
Don't do it Pike!
Will you call your breakdown company Bob? Or perhaps, as it's a really big bike, you might try the Fire Service. They have those air bag lifty things. That should do the job nicely
