Re: New Tyre day!

I used to love watching my birds and it used to cost a fortune in food, but worth every penny. All sorts of birds used to come. Once there was even a Kingfisher visiting, I think almost every common bird in Britain used to come and then in winter there were Fieldfares all over the hawthorn hedges as...

Re: New Tyre day!

Yes. It rained a lot. Yes, it was very windy. Yes, I froze and wondered what I was doing out there, but the new tyres stuck to the road nicely and I felt pretty safe. I was so pleased to get home and have a hot bath. and while I was warming up it occurred to me that I had just done a round trip of 1...

New Tyre day!

Tuesday will be raining hard, according to the forecast, as always. I am having new tyres fitted. Bridgestones! I'm treating myself to a pair and also a Scottoiler. I am very sick of having a filthy back wheel and the constant effort of trying to keep the back of the bike and me clean. Also I can't ...

Re: Thursday sad day

I've thought it might be my last year on the bike, but today, despite the ice and fog, I had to go and get the Bonneville MOT'd and apart from the coldest thumbs I've experienced since I stopped commuting, I actually felt pretty good, so I don't want to stop yet. Things to do and fun to be had. I've...

Re: The computer says yes!

So far I've booked a Triumph Owners club trip to the Cotswolds in September, which should be reasonably civilised and includes hotels. No camping. I also have to find my way to Lincoln for a camping weekend/festival/birthday party with many friends from road racing, TTing, hillclimbing, Malle Milers...

Re: Thursday sad day

Yes. My Mother and the two friends I lost all went very fast. I'd just lost my very oldest friend, had a weekend away and my Mum was taken to the same hospital on Monday, the day after I got back. I ate a lot of horrible junk food sitting with both of them. It seemed to take ages to feel a bit bette...

Re: I'm back again!

That looks amazing. I have a friend who lives in Perth and more in Western Australia, yet I never think of going there.
I should visit friends in New Zealand as well. So many people to see and so little time to do it all.

Re: I'm back again!

I'm really enjoying it, so far. I have water and there's a real toilet that actually flushes as someone had the clever idea of connecting it to the plumbing in the local football teams dressing room, where the allotment backs onto the playing fields. I have a camping cooker and kettle in my shed and...

Re: Thursday sad day

I'm sorry, Bob. I'm only just reading this now. How sad for you, but I'm glad you saw him not long before he was gone.
It was a really bad year for losing family and friends and it seemed to happen to so many people I know. Each one such a very great loss to their families. xx

The computer says yes!

Popped in, by special arrangement with the computer, who is getting really fussy about doing things I want to do and making it up as it goes along. Hope you're all well and not too cols or wet so far this year. Bonneville still running O.K. I'm really looking forward to more rallies and camping this...
